'Design a Warrior' competition
Create a picture, painting or collage, no bigger than A3
There will be cash prizes in three age groups
Ages 7 and under
Ages 8 to 11
Ages 12 to 16
Please deliver your entry with name, school, address and 'phone number on the BACK to the competition organiser (details
below) no later than Saturday 10th May Entries may be private or school based and is open to all Merseyside students.
Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners in each category with winning entries being announced on the
day of the event.
Certificates will also be awarded to highly commended entries and the best entries will be on display at the event.

8th to 10th AUGUST 2008
WRITING COMPETITION
Liverpool has a world famous waterfront which, together with the rest of the Merseyside estuary and coast, form the theme
of our Festival Exhibition and Displays which will be open FREE of charge to the public between 10am and 4pm on the Saturday
and Sunday, 9th & 10th August.
The writing competition with have the theme 'Where Land meets Sea'.
1.The competition is open to anyone with Merseyside connections through birth, education, residency or occupation.
2.Entry is FREE.
3.One piece of prose or poetry per person. Poetry no more than 40 line. Prose no more than 2000 words.
4.There are three categories:-
a) Children of primary age (Key stage 1 & 2)
b) Students of secondary age (Key stage 3 & 4)
c) Adults
5.All work must be original and unaided.
6.Prizes in each group will be awarded according to available grants and sponsorship. Details will be posted on our web
site as they become available.
7.An independent adjudicating panel will be selected by the Friends who will chose writing for the exhibition and allocate
prizes. The judges decision will be final.
8.All entries should be posted to the address given below with an entry label paper clipped to the work. The individual
work should not carry a name.
The entry label should contain the following:-
a) Name of writer
b) Address of writer
c) School name (if applicable)
d) Phone number so that finalists can be invited to the preview evening
9. No entries will be returned. Writers should keep copies.
10.Acceptance into event will assume 12 months permission is given to the Friends to publish. Full copyright is retained
by the author.
11.No writing previously entered for a competition should be submitted. Exam coursework may be submitted.
12.Writings must be 'typed' on one side of an A4 sheet (manuscripts will not be accepted) and sent so as to arrive by
post no later than 1st July 2008 to:-

The Arts competition is for drawing, painting, sculpture or print making with the theme 'Coast, Waterfront and Estuary
of Merseyside'.
1.The competition is open to anyone with Merseyside connections through birth, education, residency or occupation.
2.Entry is FREE.
3.All work must be the artist's original and unaided work. Artwork may be in any medium. All work should be adequately
framed ready for hanging. Clip frames are acceptable.
4.Up to two works may be submitted.
5.Prizes will be awarded according to available grants and sponsorship. Details will be posted on our web site as they
become available.
6.An independent adjudicating panel will be selected by the Friends who will chose works for the exhibition and allocate
prizes. The judges decision will be final.
7.Insurance is a matter for individual exhibitors. Neither the Churches Conservation Trust nor the Friends of Old Christ
Church will accept responsibility for loss or damage however occurring and applicants, by agreeing to take part in the event,
accept liability.
8.Entries must be delivered to the church either on Friday 1st August between 5pm and 7pm or on Saturday 2nd August between
10am and 12 noon.
9.The works must labelled on the reverse with the the TITLE, the NAME, ADDRESS and 'PHONE NUMBER of the artist and, if
under 18 years of age, the AGE and SCHOOL or COLLEGE.
10.No work previously exhibited in public should be entered. Acceptance into the exhibition will assume permission for
the Friends to reproduce for publicity.
11.Works selected to be display at the Festival may be collected between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on the Sunday 10th August or
on Monday 11th August between 10am and noon. Works NOT selected for display may be collected at the same time and also at
any time during the opening hour of the Festival.
12.Prizes will be announced and awarded on the evening of the 8th August at 8.15pm during a preview of the Festival together
with those of the Writing & Photographic Competitions. Full details will be posted on the web site
